The age-old classic combination of blue jeans and white shirt absolutely never fails. Put on some red lipstick and you are golden. I chose to stick to this fail-proof combo for the Day 1 of the Fashion Week. Every time the fashion week arrives, it's the constant haunting of that one question in every girl's mind that drives them crazy "What to wear!?"...I had no time to obsess this time. The college is coming to an end and I am short of 5 garments that needs to be on the ramp in May.

Blogging does take it's toll on your studies. I need to manage blog posts, college, events, assignments, mails, all in that teeny-tiny day of 24 hours. Thankfully, I have my priorities sorted out and college always tops that list. I started this blog as a hobby and passion and that's what it's gonna be. It's something I enjoy doing, and I do it for myself and enjoying a hobby with your best friend makes it so much more fun. Anyways, let's get back to adhering to the topic.

This denim and white shirt combo will save your a** just as much as your LBD will. You can always experiment with the silhouettes and create something unique to your own personal style. I chose these pleated capri denims with zip details at the hem and paired it with a sophisticated blouse and finished off the look with some interesting jewellery and edgy shoes...and BaM! I have an outfit that reflects the eclectic style in me even though it's a classic combination.

A new thing that I have picked up on in recent months is that your hairdo can make or break the look. It's just as important as your makeup. But, you should try avoiding heat tools on your hair as much as you can. And in such dire conditions, an updo is your way to go. They are easy, fun and always makes you stand out of the crowd. Play with your hair, clip them, pin them, backcomb, make a pony or a bun, just have fun! Oh, that rhymed :P

Stay Fab!!

Best of WIFW AW13 - Day 2

017

Alpana & Neeraj
The duo played with cuts, metals, sheer and structure. The garments had unique details and the peek-a-boo effect was very well taken care of. With color palette of darker hues like black, deep red, green, the metallic and sequin details stood out really well. Stellar show indeed!

RISHTA by Arjun Saluja
Arjun Saluja has always been a favourite at the fashion weeks. Unlike her sister, Kanika Saluja, who puts glam and rock her top priority, Arjun goes for a borderline goth and usually refrains from using bling in his garments. His collection is all about details, interesting cuts, zip details at unexpected yet productive places, dart cutouts and most of all prét.

063

Shantanu & Nikhil
The masters of drapes killed it with menswear this time with amazing fits, details and drapes. The styling was flawless with round glasses, top knots and draped gold chains. As much good as the womenswear were, we fell in love with the menswear collection. So so good!

136

Anju Modi
Anju Modi's collection was inspired from military and hence the whole show had a patriotic feel to it, with Rahman's Vande Mataram playing and the models marching on the ramp. Needless to say, the color palette mostly consisted of Military Green, Deep Reds and Mustard Yellows. The show was grand to say the least. The garments were fabulous, we particularly loved the embroidered jackets.

The Best of WIFW AW'13 Day1

133

MASABA GUPTA for Satya Paul
Masaba's lipstick prints were a hit and the perfect punch of youthness that Satya Paul needed. The collection was fresh with simple silhouettes but lots of unique prints and what made them so special was the placement of the prints. The chic luggage bags are on the top of our wishlist!

208

ANAIKKA by Kanika Saluja
Kanika Saluja always stuns us with her unique sense of fashion. The silhouettes, jumpsuits, gowns, everything was perfection. The industrial feel was very strong in her collection with military green, silver and black color palette.

260

SIDDARTHA TYTLER
This one was a surprise! The collection mostly consisted of clubwear and red carpet garments in dark hues like black and blues. The fun and flirty silhouettes were mesmerizing and the black sequinned gown just stole our heart!

393

Pankaj & Nidhi
With their beautiful cuts, textures and unique designs, the duo won the title of the Best Show of Day 1. Every piece was unique and beautiful, the lazer cuts, the color palette, and the A-line silhouettes were all perfection.

Kiehl's Challenge Results are out!!

Last month, we attended a bloggers meet at Kiehl's Ambience Mall store where the lovely people of Kiehl's presented us with a challenge: Let us change your skin in 28 days! We were honestly intrigued and impressed with the products but you can't really tell if the product stands up to it's claims until and unless you try them out for a considerable amount of time now, can you? [Read about the Blogger's Meet and the Challenge HERE] We used few of Kiehl's best products for a month and we are here with the results!

The products we used were:
1. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser - This cleanser is like no other cleanser that you have ever used. With a Vogue Award for Best Cleanser, Kiehl's pride themselves in claiming that it is a moisturizing cleanser with no alcohol in it and it contains a highly refined botanical oil derived from the olive, Squalane. It is similar in structure to natural skin oils and hence helps restore skin's natural moisture balance to keep skin healthy, extra soft and supple. [Price - Rs.1200]

Our Verdict: The Cleanser is a delight to use. It's soft, moisturizing and gentle on the skin while still cleaning the skin thoroughly. Skin feels refreshed and soothed after using this product and the best part is, it's going to last at least 6 months with 2 times use daily!!! If the calculation is correct, it costs Rs.200/- per month which is exactly what we used to spend on a drugstore cleanser every month. So the product is quite cost effective and ends up costing the same as before! And with better ingredients, quality and without alcohol. We are sold on this product and will definitely repurchase once we run out of it!

2. Kiehl's Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate - This serum is the brand's costliest product ever. It targets the more visible effects of skin ageing and reduces lines and wrinkles while improving overall skin texture and radiance. This is my favorite product from the brand and I swear, it works! My guarantee! [Price - Rs.4050]

Our Verdict: Oh! This is the best stuff! It's like a magic potion with Vitamin C goodness. It brightens, tightens and reduces lines overnight. No wonder it has won so many Vogue awards for being the best line-reducing product there is. Definitely repurchasing! And will get one for my mom as well!

3. Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate - This over-night skin repairing concentrate has won 21 International Awards!! As you must have read in my earlier Birthday Haul post, I bought it last month 'coz I loved it when I tried the sample from the store. Receiving this full-size complementary product again just replenished my stock and I couldn't be happier! It instantly penetrates the skin to replenish and restore younger-looking skin by morning. It works at night when skin is most receptive to repairing itself from daily aggressions. And if that was not enough, it is 99.8% natural, paraben-free and mineral oil free.
One of the skincare myths is that if your skin is oily, you don't need moisture. But it is totally not true. It is actually your skin's own way of asking that it needs more moisture and care by producing excess oil. So, you can use this product whether you have oily, dry or combination skin. [Price - Rs. 2990]

Our Verdict: This oil is like a midnight fuel to recharge and replenish the skin and make it truly a beauty sleep. Just a few drops do the trick and honestly, we can't get enough of it. We are now big fans of Kiehl's!

4. Kiehl's Calendula Herbal Extract Toner - This toner is formulated with select herbal extracts to gently cleanse and soothe normal to oily skin types without the use of alcohol or harsh synthetic drying agents. It contains Calendula flower petals as well!  [Price - Rs.2500]

Our Verdict: The toner is very gentle on the skin and makes it ready for the rest of the skin regime. It was a delight to use and it smelled lovely but we might not repurchase it as the cost does not do it justice. There are good toners available for half that price.

And now for the real deal, the Before-After picture:

Kiehls

You can clearly see the red bumps and patches on my skin in the Before picture. I had no makeup on when I got that picture clicked. In the After picture also, I am not wearing any makeup except a light sweep of blush.

The difference is clearly visible but still let's list them down below:
1. Skin was brightened and looked healthy from within.
2. Skin Tone evened out completely.
3. The red patches and bumps disappeared into thin air!
4. The facial lines were 50% reduced.
5. Dark circles cleared up at least 60%.

We absolutely are in awe with the results and would continue using the regime for years to come! We swear by all the products we tried and in combination, they work like magic! We had started noticing the difference in the first week only! We say, give the products a try and do not miss out on the Kiehl's Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate...it's the best out of all!!

Good Luck changing your skin!!

Mixing SS13 Trends for Elle Carnival at Taj

As you all know, Monochrome and Stripes are the two biggest trends for this Spring/Summer closely followed by Lego (RGB & CMYK) and Pastel colors. I, personally, love incorporating trends into my personal style. With new trends coming up in every 6 months, it helps me create new looks and keeps my perspective fresh all year round. I guess that's the whole point of trends, isn't it?

Those who have been following this blog for a long time(Thank you!) would know that I am someone who likes to mix it up a little especially when it comes to trends. My view is, why wear subtle when you can wear it all! The subtlety should be in the way of mixing trends together to create one look which has multiple layers and depth to it. I have done this before:
1. Of mixing Trends, Patterns & Textures
2. Clashing Neons!
3. Printed Pants & Blue-Black Trend
4. Effortlessly Chic in Tweed
5. The Military Jeans with Wedge Sneakers
6. Mixing Trends
7. Mixing Neons & Pastels
8. Wearing 4 Trends together

{Trousers/ Peplum Top/ Blazer - Zara, Necklace/Ring - Youshine, Ring/ Sunglasses - H&M, Bag - Accessorize, Shoes - Asos}

This outfit I styled to kill two birds with one arrow. Firstly, I was meeting my girlfriends for lunch and then we headed to the Elle Carnival at Taj. The pants are comfy enough for me to make it through the day and the tailored blazer completed the outfit and made it lunch as well as Carnival appropriate. In the midst of all this, I couldn't find time to do a proper photoshoot and hence we will have to make-do with these couple of clicks we managed between our drinks...

This outfit is a result of a careful amalgamation of 4 trends: Monochrome, Stripes, Blue (RGB Color) and Icy Blue pastel color...(Read about all the trends for SS13 HERE). The trends somehow work together perfectly and create an interesting ensemble. I kept the shoes and the bag black so that they don't take the attention away from the outfit. I wanted the Stripes, Blue Peplum top and the accessories to take center stage and do all the taking. Personally, this outfit is one of my absolute favorites. The pants sure are going to be for keeps! ^______^

And now for a few snippets from the Elle Carnival for a Cause....

Wearable Spring/Summer Fashion Trends 2013

Yes, Spring is here. Finally! It almost felt like we would never be able to get out of our cozy blankets and see the sun but the month of March has brought clear skies and warmer days along. After much research and observation, we have shortlisted 6 hottest trends that are going to be huge this Spring/Summer and here goes:

1. MONOCHROME
From Catwalks to Home Linens, we have been bombarded with the two contrast hues, Black and White. Traditionally when you think of Spring/Summer, Florals and Pastels feel seamlessly picturesque. But this time around, the trends are bolder and more graphic. This Monochrome Trend can be seen in E.V.E.R.Y. high street brands in the forms of bold graphic patterns, stripes, polka dots, etc. It is clear that the sharp contrast of monochrome would be the stand-out trend for SS13.

To shop for this trend, best places we would suggest are Zara, Mango, Promod, Forever New and Forever 21. You can find affordable chic pieces there to look like a million dollar fashionista this season!

2

2. STRIPES
We got to know this trend was going to be huge months ago while doing some Trend Forecasting Research. We also gave you guys a heads up to keep a lookout for this huge trend during the Sale season last year in this post HERE. We had talked about and shown you all sorts of variations of Stripes. From colorful to monochromatic, vertical to horizontal, different widths to all-over Stripes, they are going to be the print of SS13.

For some amazing pieces striped all over, visit Zara, Forever 21 and Forever New.

6

3. SHEER
This trend promises many interesting ideas to consider for your closet in the coming months. Transparency, when played intelligently can be incredibly sexy, chic and stylish. Wear the pieces with sheer necklines, sheer backs or sheer hems to look très chic.

5

4. RUFFLES
With a season where the collections all shared lightness, in terms of fabric, construction and coloring, ruffles also proved to be very popular. When wanting to add some depth, some texture and extra movement to highly studied, yet light, destructured garments, ruffle is the solution. Applied to form a peplum waist, as a sleeve on a top, a bib or a style statement, the ruffle will be a big thing next summer.

4

5. PASTELS
The lightness, whether in fabric or color, was very prominent in the SS13 collections. Inspired from the summery feel and the sunny days, Pastel Yellow will be the most prominent color this season. The last year's trend made it's way into the new season but the feel is much more grown up this time. Patel Yellow, Icy Blue, Pale Pink, all pastels are going to be one of the hightlights in the coming months.

3

6. LEGO COLORS
The bright primary colors from the RGB and CMYK color models will be huge too! Be it in prints, color blocking, accessorizing or anything! These colors were very prominent in the Louis Vuitton, Chanel, etc SS13 shows and who doesn't like colorful Summers!!

1

The new season is full of excitement and colors. Pastels, primary colors, monochromes, everything is in! Now it all depends on how YOU decide to wear these trends. Fashion is about expressing yourself, so go crazy with these trends, experiment, take risks, fall in love with them and have a ball this season! Good Luck! Stay Fab!
