Classy Cocktail ft. Riddhi and Revika

Isn't it a teensy bit difficult to believe that in exactly 3 days 2015 will be over. As clichéd as it may sound, it feels like yesterday that we welcomed 2015! Time flies by so fast, I am an year older and none the wiser. When does growing up happens is actually a vague question with an even more vague answer. I keep waiting for that eureka moment when I will feel all grown up and mature and in control of my life but it's been a long wait and doesn't seem like any new tides are coming in. Another new year resolution maybe, becoming a more mature individual? I don't think so. My new year resolution is to drink more water. See, again childish.

But what if I can't feel all grown up, at least I can look the part, right? What do they say, fake it till you make it. Yeah, that one. The moment I put on this stunning gown by Riddhi & Revika, I was so aware of the fact that I am an all grown up girl. That didn't come out right, did it? I am soon crossing over to the  late twenties age group and still struggling with making the right choices with words. God forbid if I had to make life choices. Did I tell you I am still having hard time concentrating on one topic at a time? You get the point. So as I was saying, this beautiful gown can really bring out the feminine side in you. I am not a girly girl, never have been, never will be. But every once in a while comes that outfit that gives the cinderella feels and this was the one! The fabric flows like water on the body and the beautiful low cut back detail is even more stunning in person. The low supply of fabric in this cold weather is balanced out by the even more stunning fur shawl with scalloped edges. The fine detailed kardana work is cherry on the cake. If I could pick one thing to get in varied colors, this would be it. This shawl in emerald green or peacock blue and even snowy white would look so breathtaking!

This outfit would be the perfect attire to welcome 2016 in! Maybe feel more sophisticated and mature while bringing in the new year. This designer duo has been my recent favorite and I cannot get enough of their designs. If you remember, I wore a beautiful white midi skirt a while back with a huge black flower on it(See HERE) and I got compliments from the most unexpected people(read people who would never, even if their life depended on it, compliment). Their gowns in neoprene fabric are my absolute favourites, you can check them out HERE. Have a ball going through the collection, girls. Thank me later!

Amazon #KyaPehnu Campaign

You all must have seen the new Amazon fashion advertisement on television and the very catchy #KyaPehnu tune must be forever engraved in your mind. Post the launch of the ad, Amazon took another initiative to bring fashion closer to people. A van called the Amazon SOS Crew Van did rounds in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi. This super cool van had members of the Amazon Fashion Squad namely Mandira Bedi, Ayushmann Khurrana, Miss Malini and stylists loaded with clothes, accessories, shoes, etc and makeup and hair artists as well for a complete makeover to whoever visits the van for a SOS makeover!

I think it's a great idea. So many people buy stuff and struggle with how to wear them in different ways which still speaks of their personality and who they are. The SOS Crew making themselves available to public with all the necessary tools for a makeover on a moving vehicle is brilliant of sorts!

Here are a few snippets from the Delhi drive through of the SOS Van!

SFE Men: Urban Adventurer

DSC_3429a DSC_3435 DSC_3436 DSC_3443 DSC_3481
{Jacket/Cargo Pants - Aeropostale, T-shirt/Shoes - Zara, Scarf- Kashmir Novelties}

Even the savviest of sartorialist can find himself stumped when it comes to Delhi winters. The strong wind, dropping temperature and chill to the bones can take a toll on keeping up with trends. This is when a classic windcheater jacket and solid footwear comes into play. If fashion is anything to go by, nothing says masculine, bold and desirable like a touch of adventurism.

Choosing deepest shade of blue for the jacket to align with a masculine and timeless approach and pairing it with cargo pants in beige made for an infallible combination for this look. The scarf/shawl was a last minute addition by Rohman Shawl himself from his very own Kashmir Novelties and it completed the look dexterously. As seen during the fashion week's street style, it is evident that scarves mean serious business this season. From relatively slender styles that snake almost to the ground to hulking woven scarves coiled carefully around the neck, they are your new fashion best friends!

Sunburn Tiesto Concert- 'ME' by Mandira Bedi for Gillette Venus

Tiesto India Tour 'Me' by Mandira Bedi for Gillette Venus at the Tiesto Concert,Sunburn, Bangalore (2) 23621472679_857e366ee3_o 23963237666_7d059944c4_o

If you are on any of my social media platforms namely Snapchat(SrishSFE) and Instagram, you must know that I attended the Sunburn festival this year that happened in Gurgaon. Tiesto played amazing music and I had a great time. But most of all, I was experimenting the idea of wearing something out of the box with the help of Mandira Bedi and Gillette Venus

Mandira Bedi collaborated with Gillette Venus to design outfits called 'ME' and they were launched during the Tiesto concert. The idea of wearing a saree to a concert did sound uncanny and queer but hey, us bloggers should try and test a new trend before bringing it to our readers, right? So, I accepted the challenge to wear this unique outfit to the concert.

In all honesty, I wasn't thrilled when I received the package by Mandira Bedi(You can see all the designs here: CLICK). I lucked out and received the best of the batch and once I started to play around with the drape, it was so much fun! I came up with a bunch of ideas to drape it but finally settled on wrapping the pallu around my neck and belting it at the waist. Given the Delhi winters, I didn't have much options for the top and shoes but I braved the cold and wore a crop top and thick strappy shoes to compliment the whole look. The final outcome was edgy, sexy and totally concert-worthy!

So, now if anyone says you can't wear such an outfit to a concert, kick their stereotypical little ass and show them how women can rock any outfit at any given point of time. And of course, Gillette Venus is there to back you up allowing you the freedom to wear what you want, whenever you want!

Sweater Weather

{Pullover/Skirt - Promod, Scarf/Sunglasses- Aldo, Bag - Da Milano, Necklace - H&M, Rings - Forever 21, Watch - Michael Kors, Shoes - Charles and Keith}

If you think of our lives as a movie, the ongoing scene would have our heads tucked in high collars/scarves, hands fidgeting in pockets, sipping hot drinks, trees sleeping, leaves falling, wind blowing on crispy mornings and us starring in all these scenes, almost always in SWEATERS!

While the blazers and coats will keep making appearances, the chunky knits will always be running the show. Oversized, cable-knits, metallic, roll-necks, one of these kinds are sure to be found in every single girl's closet! While the easiest way to wear this comfortable piece is with your distressed denims and sneakers, you could always style them with a bit of twist and make a statement.

I wore this mustard knit sweater recently to brunch with friends. Pairing it with with my favourite blue denims was my first choice due to a lazy cold morning but I switched to wearing a skirt later. The outfit shouts chill on the top and sexy on the bottom. I opted for color blocking and adding some interest with prints and textures of shades of base colors namely beige and black. The sweater is a recent purchase but I have practically been living in it, it's comfortable, soft, warm and cozy. And not to mention, the color is pure love!

Do tell me how you are wearing your knits!

Art of Trench

DSC_1581 DSC_1564 DSC_1556 DSC_1559 DSC_1570 DSC_1597 DSC_1593
{Trench Coat/Shoes/Necklace - Forever 21, Bag - Aldo, Watch - Michael Kors, Sunglasses - Vincent Chase}

A classic cover-up which has withstood the test of time and spells sophistication with an urban vibe could be a summarised definition of a trench coat. In my opinion, it is the best fashion invention, a wonder garment in its own really. The timeless appeal of it's silhouette and the ease of pairing it with almost anything and everything in your wardrobe is what makes it sort of an unsung hero of classic styling.

It doesn't really matter what you wear underneath because the trench coat does all the talking and makes that great first impression. I personally own at least 7 different styles of this staple coat in different lengths and colors. With the weather and it's inconsistencies, sometime warm, cold, windy, rainy and sometimes all in one day, we are all left with the puzzling question: what to wear? And more often than not, my answer lies in the little section of my wardrobe where all these trenchs have taken up residence in.

I styled my most classic trench coat in a recent post in collaboration with ASUS. While styling a trench coat, you don't need to go by any rule book really. It's all about belting if you want a sophisticated look or you can wear it undone or tied artistically behind your back for a more relaxed urban look. The lengths can be a bit tricky though as in what you pair it with. A knee length trench coat is ideal for almost anything while a shorter length would be paired best with denims or shorter skirts/dresses. But no matter the length, always let the trench be the focus of your outfit, unless you plan to take it off once you reach your destination.

Here, I styled this olive trench coat in all it's glory and let it be the only focus of the look. This is just an example of how a trench can easily be styled as an outfit itself (told you it's a wonder garment, didn't I?). This look could be just as perfect for business meetings as it would be for brunch or shopping. The versatility of this garment is multifold and I would make that more clear in upcoming posts where I will style it in multiple ways as the weather gets colder.

Stay tuned!

Happy looks good on you!

DSC_2949 DSC_2955 DSC_2957 DSC_2960 DSC_2976 DSC_2964 DSC_2971
{Shirt - Forever 21, Denims - H&M, Sequinned Jacket - RenaLove, Necklace - Zara, Clutch - Accessorize, Shoes - Intoto}

I have recently been duelling with the idea of everyone possessing a dual personality. One they wear as a mask in social settings and the other that resides behind that mask. And the sad part is, it is inevitable in the world we live in where buying shoes matter more than donating money for the needy. We look the other way when a beggar knocks on our car windows on a traffic signal. But spend hours in front of the idiot box called a TV staring at the materialistic actors who portray fake emotions for our entertainment. We create a fake social world inside our smartphones when a true friend is sitting right beside you wanting to talk in real time, face to face. Every year, as December begins, I start reflecting on the year that passed by us, slipped through our fingers in a blur. What good did we do in this one year, how closer are we to our goal, and how many true friends were made who do not only talk through texts but spend real quality time with you, beside you.

It's about time I made some real changes in my life for a better tomorrow. Call it new year resolutions or whatever you may like, but these changes are necessary. I want to live life more fully, not worrying about petty things, being happy and satisfied with what I have and being thankful for the amazing people in my life. I would earnestly suggest you all take a minute to think back on how you spent last year, what all you could have done to make it better and what are you gonna do about it now. Live a real life, don't be fake or pretentious, give love and support to your friends and family, say what you feel and do whatever you want to do passionately. No regrets!

Label Ritu Kumar

No matter how submerged we all are in our mundane urban lifestyle where foreign aesthetics demands from us to dress in well, foreign influenced clothing, there is a deep rooted unconventional artistic indian identity that breathes gently in each of our soul. Call it bohemian if you may, but this very living and breathing identity is what is needed to sustain our culture in this young urban India.

A visit to the Label Ritu Kumar store every few months keeps reminding me of this notion and helps me re-awaken my love for soft fluid clothes which are inspired by west but has core Indian aesthetics. This contemporary Indian label has something to offer to every one, no matter the age or size. The moment I laid eyes on this jumpsuit, I had already come up with 3 different ways of styling it! Pairing it with a tailored blazer and belted at the waist for the office or with a denim jacket and canvas shoes for the relaxed casual vibe or the way I have styled it here, integrating a bit more culture in it. The wide legs were so fluid, I couldn't help but twirl! For a bit more insight into the A/W'15 collection and pricing, do have a look at their video.
